Challenge 1: Dry January

I often struggle to find motivation, especially during the 101 days of January. So for 2020 I have set myself the task of doing a challenge each month, and in the process hopefully raise some more money for the charity Mind.

First up, challenge number one is: Dry January. Yeah, not that original! But I’ve never done it and I’ve been quite intrigued to see how I’ll feel during and after the longest month of the year.

So far, with one week to go, I can’t say I’ve found it easy! I knew I’d be tempted but I think due to finding this month difficult emotion-wise, it’s made me want to drown my sorrows even more. And nothing quite has the same affect as some cold rosé! But, on the plus side, it’s probably a good thing that I’ve set this challenge because drinking whilst struggling mentally never ends well for me.

I am happy to say that I’ve not given in to temptation and I am currently still on track to complete this challenge – safe to say I am not giving up.. (But, bloody hell, hurry up February 1st!)

Up next.. Get Fit in Feb! Now, sounds good to some people.. but I am quite the avoider when it comes to exercise. I used to be a pretty regular gym go-er back at the end of 2018, but then summer ’19 came and it all went downhill from there. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, I’m just a lazy so-and-so and would rather come home and indulge in police dramas on Netflix! Added into the mix the fact that gyms are a red flag to Ben.

But… this is why the next challenge is a good one for me. It will help me push boundaries and step outside my comfort zone. And hopefully get me a bit fitter in the mean time!

The aim for the month is a minimum of half an hour of exercise 5x a week; watch this space!
